An excellent but very slow growing plant. With a tuft of long, narrow green leaves emerging from the interestingly fissured bark, the bulbous trunk is the source of one of its common names – elephant’s foot.
Common Names: Ponytail Palm, Elephant’s Foot
Pot Size: 32cm
Light: Prefers plenty of bright, indirect light. Can place in direct light in the autumn & winter but this will be too intense in the height of summer.
Compost: Prefers a well-draining compost.
Water: The Beaucarnea recurvata stores water in the swollen base. Be very careful not to over water as this will lead to root rot. Water frequently during the summer (every 7 – 14 days), allowing the compost to dry out in between then water sparingly during the winter.
Feed: Feed with a cactus & succulent fertilizer during the growing season.
Growth rate: Very slow growing
Height: 2m
Spread: 1.5m
